Ongoing R&D : Face Recognition The iNet Face Recognition product has two key functions : 1. Verification - comparing current image to a proposed match from the database to see if it collates. 2. Identification - comparing the current image to the entire database and looking for a match, to ascertain identity. Currently face recognition is starting to be used to identify pictures of unknown subjects from surveillance footage, from CCTV (if the picture is very good), and from still image databases. Safe Cities are starting live Police custody trials in June '07 of iNet face recognition software as part of our FIND CIS (custody identification system) for immediate verification of detainees' identities as they enter the custody process. There is further ongoing R&D activity to continue the development of Safe Cities' world-leading face detection software and its application in different device architectures.
