FIND ISS: IMAGE STANDARDISATION SOFTWARE

The FIND ISS Image Enhancement Software (known previously as iFactory) takes custody photography facial images, cctv frontal facial images, or any other kind of digital facial image and automatically analyses and converts the images into FIND-compliant images using advanced image processing and artificial intelligence techniques. These converted FIND standardised facial images are called iFacts (Intelligent Face Alignment, cropping, and colour Correction Technology).

FIND ISS also operates in a batch mode at a rate of up to 5,000 images per hour, and automatically adjusts the image for luminosity, hue, face position and size while also intelligently standardising the backgrounds etc. The batch mode is particularly suited to the conversion of legacy images whilst improving the usefulness of poor quality images for future biometrics work. Safe Cities are currently involved in converting UK Police Forces legacy databases to enhanced compliance with the FIND project.

The key benefits of the FIND ISS system are as follows:

• Automatic processing and standardisation of images to the NPIA's Police Standard for Still Digital Image Capture and Data Interchange of Facial/Mugshot
  and Scar, Mark & Tattoo Images Version 2 guidelines that are the basis of the Facial Images National Database (FIND) project.
• Quality-assured facial images, which can be interchanged between forces, and are FIND-compliant.
• Enhancement of single images of uncertain quality towards the FIND standard.
• Batch conversion of non-standard images at a rate of up to 5,000/hr.
• All automated functions can also be carried out manually if required.
• The software flags up images which it cannot convert to FIND-compliance.
