Safe Cities Exhibit at ACPO-APA 2007

Safe Cities Ltd exhibited at the ACPO-APA 2007 exhibition in Manchester, UK. Among those products being demonstrated were FIND CPS - Photo Booth, FIND CPS - Kiosk, SecureID - CCTV Edition, FIND CIS, iNET AFR. Below are some photographs from the event.

SAFE CITIES WINS AWARD AT HOSDB 2007

Safe Cities Ltd received an award of  'Commended' in the Equipment and Technology Innovation Awards of the Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers award ceremony at the Home Office Scientific Development Branch Exhibition (HOSDB 2007) at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire.

The award was presented to Safe Cities' managing director, David Cumming, and Det. Sgt. Grahame Bell, of Isle of Man Police, by The Lord MacKenzie of Framwellgate OBE, the APPSS President. The award was presented for the custody photography system for the Facial Images National Database (FIND) project, installed in Isle of Man Police's Douglas HQ. The system is the first custody photography system in the UK that is compliant with the guidelines for the new FIND database.

SAFE CITIES AWARDED MERSEYSIDE CONTRACT

Safe Cities' managing director David Cumming today announced that Safe Cities' have been awarded a contract to standardise Merseyside Police's custody mugshot database for the Facial Images National Database (FIND) project. As one of the UK 's most forward-looking Forces, Merseyside are in the forefront of the effort to standardise custody imaging around the UK. 'We're very pleased to be working with Merseyside Police. One of the UK 's biggest Forces, Merseyside Police Force has caught the attention of the UK policing community with its 'Total War on Crime.' Safe Cities are pleased to be playing a part, albeit a small part, in Merseyside's efforts to provide 'the best Police service in the UK .'

SAFE CITIES CUSTODY PHOTOGRAPHY NOMINATED FOR AWARD.

Safe Cities’ FIND-compliant custody photography system (FIND CPS™), the first in the UK, has been nominated by Isle of Man Chief Constable Mike Culverhouse, for the APPSS ‘Equipment and Technology Innovation Award.’ In essence, this award is given for the best piece of Police Technology each year.

The FIND CPS system has been in successful operation for over a year in the Douglas HQ. It uses artificial intelligence to provide substantial benefits in terms of productivity, efficiency, and reduced staffing requirements. Both touchscreen and keyboard variants exist.

SAFE CITIES TO EXHIBIT AT HOSDB 2007.

Safe Cities will be exhibiting FIND CPS (custody photography system), TotalID - Witness Album module (automatic witness albums direct from CCTV), and SecureID (automatic witness album production) at the HOSDB 2007 Exhibition this year. Safe Cities have been nominated for a Police technology innovation award to be presented at the HOSDB exhibition.

DR IAIN MCKAY JOINS SAFE CITIES AS CTO .

Award winning scientist, Dr Iain McKay, has joined Safe Cities Ltd as Chief Technology Officer, leveraging his experience in academia and the software industry where he has managed large teams, and multi-million pound budgets. Iain is an experienced team leader and has had outstanding success with his R&D efforts in CRM, 3D / Virtual Reality Graphics, Avatars, Self-Service Kiosks, AI, Intelligent Agents, Multi-Modal User Interfaces, Natural Language Understanding, Biometrics and Speech and Language Processing.

Iain also brings thirteen years of experience in the application of Human Factors in the software design cycle (e.g. Usability Audits, Contextual Analysis, User-Centered-Design, Qualitative Analysis via Focus Groups, Experimental Design and Large-Scale Quantitative Analysis via User Trials and subsequent statistical Analysis of Variance techniques).

Iain is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and Member of the IEE (London). He has had many papers published and is also the principal author of the textbook "The Strategic Desktop - Usability for the Contact Centre Workstation" (ISBN:0-9541888-0-2)
